Dr. Spencer Smith

Originally from Panama City, Florida, Dr. Smith grew up in a golfing community – although if you’ve seen him play, you wouldn’t know he’s been golfing for over 20 years! He decided at an early age to become a dentist, so it was an easy choice to attend the University of Florida. In Gainesville, he earned early admission to dental school through the University of Florida’s highly competitive Combined B.S./D.M.D. program, allowing him to complete his bachelor of science in human nutrition and his doctorate of medical dentistry in only seven years. While at the University of Florida, he also met his wife, Taylor, and they married in 2017.
Before moving to Pinehurst, Dr. Smith pursued advanced training focused in areas such as cosmetic restorative dentistry and dental surgery. Dr. Smith loves black coffee, playing video games, and spending time with his wife and daughter. Dr. Smith also loves to volunteer and has traveled for both dental and non-dental mission trips to places like Galveston, Texas; Milton, Canada; and Palin, Guatemala.
Dr. P. Ray Chavis
Associate Dentist
Dr. Chavis graduated from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 1980. He has been an active member of organized dentistry his entire career. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the Fourth District Dental Society. Leadership roles for Dr. Chavis include serving as an alternate delegate at ADA National Conventions, achieving a Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry, serving as Vice President of the NCDS, serving as President of the Fourth District of the NCDS, and serving several years on the NCDS Board of Trustees. He has been involved with many local organizations, including the American Red Cross, the United Way, Scotia Village Presbyterian Homes, Scotland County Board of Health, and the Scotland County Health Care System.
Dr. Chavis enjoys all kinds of sports, especially running, biking, golf, and water sports. His crowning achievement was doing a 70.3 Ironman as a team with his son and daughter. A native of Laurinburg, NC, Dr. Chavis attends the Wagram Church of God with his wife, Donna, who is a dental hygienist, and their two children, Kristen and Coby.
